Monoscreenprint, collage and
mixed media on canvas
This was a central image in my 'Forest' series featured in my solo show, 'Inside Outside'. I painted directly on to silkscreen to make lots of monoprints, and then cut them to shreds in what felt like a very scary and bold way.
My inspiration was the forest of Le Touquet, where we walk very often. It's a small forest, which suits me fine as I'm not the sporty type — my walking is limited to bursts of exactly 40 minutes. It' s a man-made forest, strategically placed to help stop erosion when the town was built about 100 years ago, but it's closely planted with magnificent stands of verticals and ever-changing light. One of my favourite places.
