30" x 33"
Oil on linen
This painting – with its many ‘little houses’ – was inspired by a little map hand- drawn from memory by a friend of my grandfather in the 1930s, and shows their birth village on the Polish border. The village, or ‘shtetl’ is rather humorously named Zeludok’, which means ‘belly’ in Russian! This little map inspired both this piece and several abstract versions including this one which you will find on my family history page.
